Buttons and Cowls - Oh My!!!

I made up a retro cane last week before my Makin's Extruder died. I'm VERY happy with how it came out! I then made a button set and one extra for a neck cowl.

Both of these will be appearing in a selling venue of mine VERY soon!! Heck, they might even be there right now! Why don't you check out the sidebar over there on the right side of this blog and see???

There's lots of fun stuff there!!

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday. ~Author Unknown

  • Worried about the state of the economy??
  • Maybe not quite so much now that we have a brand new president??
  • How about that ever growing grocery bill??
  • Wouldn't it be nice to have a little stress reliever right there, handy-like in your pocket??
These beauties will do the trick! Polymer Clay Worry Stones from Constance Pelkey Designs!

Feeling a bit stressed and need a healthy release? Rub one of these soothing little stones and feel the tension melt away!

These little polymer clay worry stones have been impressed with inspirational words, such as

"Dream"

"Create"

"Wish"

to name just a few. They come in various colored mesh gift bags and are shaped into pleasing "stones" that comfortably fit in the palm of your hand.

No two are alike, therefore we cannot specifically guarantee which stone you will receive.

Thanks for your interest!!

New items added to both ARTFIRE and ETSY stores!!

Once again my study in contrasts has produced a gorgeous piece! I LOVE to make pieces that are full contrasts, and this one certainly fits the bill!! One side is as smooth as glass pink polymer clay that's been treated to the "ghost imaging" technique and the other is textured, antiqued fine silver!

Check out the new items added to both ARTFIRE and ETSY stores!! I'll be adding a few new items each day, with the exception of Sunday's, a gal has to have some down time, right??

2009 official Bug Swap details

Please read this carefully!

The deadline for sign up is Friday January 30th.

ALL participants must email me their contact information from a valid email address. No one will be placed on the swap list without emailing me this information first.

Information from you that I'll need:
Full name:
Full postal address:
Valid email address: (email me from this address)
Phone number:
Number of groups of six you want to join:

In return, I will email you back my contact information, including my phone number.

I absolutely need ALL of this information from each swap member. Swaps are meant to be fun, however recently there has been a "rash" of troubled swaps out there. Bad swap issues have included folks not staying in contact with the hostess, the hostess "falling off the edge of the planet", items being lost in the mail, incorrect postal amounts being sent, etc...

I don't want to dwell on these, so with all of us committing to the rules I've set, I hope this swap goes off without a hitch! I have hosted about 10 swaps over the years in the various on line polymer clay communities. I've also participated in many, many swaps, I can't remember how many! With all of us keeping in contact, no one will be disappointed. I will post any updates to my blog, as well as sending out a group email.

The details of the swap are as follows:

For those living in the continental USA, you'll be identified as GROUP A: The deadline for your completed buggy groups is Tuesday March 31, 2009.

For those in Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and overseas locations, you'll be identified as GROUP B: The deadline for your completed buggy groups is Friday March 13, 2009.

The 2009 Bug Swap will consist of groups of six (6). What this means is you will make and send out to me 6 bugs. Your bugs must be no larger than 4 inches and made primarily of polymer clay but feel free to use any mixed media to dress up your bugs. You will receive back 5 different bugs plus one of your own. You will package your bugs individually in zipper plastic bags along with your business card or slip of paper with your name and email address (at the very least).

Those in GROUP A will carefully package your groups up in a PRIORITY MAIL box. You will also send along enough postage to cover the return of your swap items.

Those in GROUP B will contact me personally about how to ship your packages, various countries have different shipping options to the US and we can discuss those.

One more thing, hostess gifts will be greatly accepted and appreciated, but are NOT necessary!

Lets have a GREAT swap!!

Lot's done today!

I worked upstairs in the newly set up photo studio from 8:30AM to 11:45, then after lunch I was back up there at 1:30 and stayed until 3:00PM! In the last shot down below is a sample of the photo's I took today... I have over 150 still to edit and probably another 50 to 75 pictures to take. I plan on editing these over the next few weeks so that when I'm laid up from my knee surgery, I'll have new items all ready to upload to my ETSY shop. While I'm taking these photos - I'm going through old stock, reassessing and reevaluating my pieces, some are being unceremoniously tossed, while others are being looked at in a whole new light! It's been over two years since I've looked at most of this stuff! Wow! I'm so glad to be over the shoulder surgeries!! I feel alive and creative again! I missed it so much! Pretty much all I could do for two years was crochet! Now, I LIKE to crochet, but I also like to bead, and work with polymer clay, and precious metal clay, and wire wrap, sew a little and string beads and I even like to sculpt a bit... I'll tell ya, crocheting got old fast! I have lots to show for what I crocheted, but I have yet to take good pics of those items... all in due time!

That's the items waiting to be shot in the right pictures and yes, that's the laptop with my iTunes blaring!

During lunch I did laundry, worked on my wire and bead crochet pouch I started last night, and now, I've been photo editing since 5PM. Oh! I also had a tubby time in the late afternoon too! Yummy!

I can't believe that I can so easily walk from the basement, where the washer and dryer are - to the first floor kitchen (to check on the fish chowder in the crock pot) - then up again to the 3rd floor attic where I was shooting pictures - without even being winded!!! When we first moved in to this house I LITERALLY did not FIT down the cellar stairs! Wow! Loosing 270 lbs has sooooo changed my life!!

New Items - xmas pressies

These are some xmas pressie's I just finished up last night. My picture taking skills are getting a little better. I learned a lot on this round of photos. I need to readjust a few things on my "photo lab set up", once I get everything redone I'll post about it.

In the meantime.....

This is a basket weave (klew design) and floral cuff bracelet.

This is a blue swirl on square velum pendant with a heart shaped peek a boo key.

A multi - element blue swirl pendant.

A clip on flash light.

A hidden compartment emergency whistle and key chain. The triangle cane was made by Kathi.

An art doll wind chime. I LOVE her feet!!

And a cute little piggy bank!

Studio Redo

This is my studio redo. After Mom moved in with us my studio was moved upstairs, to the room it was in originally. The small one in the front, south east corner. It's really a cozy little room. I like working in it!! Finding time to spend in it isn't really difficult either. I seem to find at least one day a week to really work in there. Right now, that's a good thing. I just found out a couple weeks ago that I have to have knee replacement surgery. During that recovery I'll have lots of time to work in there! It'll be different from both my shoulder surgeries, I'll be able to use my hands and arms! I'll be able to clay and bead and sew and crochet!! YAY! I couldn't do much if any of these things I adore for almost 2 years while I recuperated from TWO shoulder surgeries!!!! Ak!

Anyway, this is the entrance.

The other side of the door. Behind which is a bookcase housing all my magazines and books.

This is the main work station. To the left is the precious metal clay area and to the right is my polymer clay station. The cubbies to the right of the leather chair hold all sorts of non jewelry findings, stamps, texture sheets, clay, etc...

A small storage are in front of the window. My extruder, heat gun, food processor, textures, inclusions (metal foils, embossing powders, etc) live here.

Here is a shot of all the hand tools. (exacto blades, sculpting tools, scissors etc...)

Here's my storage/ wire working area. On top is my light box/ photographing supplies, television, VCR, etc. Nero's bed is on the floor in front of this cabinet.

Here's where three of my studio mascots live. Bob the beta fish and Harriet and Hermione hermit crab. *smile* Below is my fabric and yarn stash.

Sewing station to the left, beading station to the right.

Studio Mascots. Bob, Harriet & Hermione, and Nero on his bed.

A day off!!

I'm actually taking a day off for me!! A mental health day, if you will. Really though, it's a physical health day, I'm not kidding! I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and itchy eyes!
Today, I'm feeling like shit! I had planned on working in the bathroom again today, but the fact that the neighbor - sweetheart of a guy - is over and working on finishing up the plumbing. No way can I be in there working too!! I'd asked Nancy a couple of weeks ago to ask him if he'd give her a pointer or two on finishing up the shower surround, and next thing we knew, he was taking the plumbing apart and putting in new! Yeeeah Haaaaaw!!! I doubted she would be able to figure it out on her own! LOL!

I simply adore this woman though! No one can hold a candle up to her! She isn't all that handy - is all... she is willing and able and learning stuff all around here though, and that is a good thing for all of us! Curt helping is a good thing! She is learning so much just by hanging out with him! After they are done, the bathroom will be good to go! No more mold and no more plastic duct-taped over the hole in the wall!

So anyway, it's a "no go" for me to be painting in there today, while he is soldering copper! No way! It's way too freaking small in there!

Now, I could have gone up to see what Mom is up to.......

but she has a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 3:30. I plan on leaving right after I get done work tomorrow to go up to her place. I'm anxious about this appointment tomorrow and I know she is too!

........ I didn't go up though today, I chose to stay home and lay on the freaking couch - all - day - long, and do abso-freakin'-nothing!!

--- NOTHING TODAY ---

except rest and bead!!

YIPPEE SKIPPEE!!!!!

These are two faux turquoise cabochons I made months ago!

I recently started beading a seed bead flower-like bezel around these two large ones. I also have a bunch of smaller cabs that will, along with these finished two, be incorporated in to a much larger, elaborate collar.

I haven't been able to bead or clay for months and months now due to my TWO shoulders enduring torn rotator cuffs! BOTH where bad, bad tears! I had to wear the large pillow sling for a total of at least six weeks! On BOTH sides! Not to mention that my bicep on my right arm was hanging on by a thread!! Last summer/ fall I was so lame for so long! It was easily Christmas time before I was able to lift my right arm over my head, pain free! My surgery was July 18th last year. This years surgery on my left arm was April 23rd. Today is July 28th, 10 weeks after surgery - I can pinwheel my arm and shoulder, pain free! Yes, PAIN FREE!!! It's amazing how much quicker my left arm is healing compared to the mess of my right, last summer!

WOW!
