Senate OKs Out-Of-State Gays Marrying In Mass.

Move Expected To Boost State's Economy

Senate has voted to repeal a 1913 law used to bar out-of-state gay couples from marrying in the state. The law prohibits couples from obtaining marriage licenses if they couldn't legally wed in their home states. After Massachusetts became the first state to allow gay marriages in 2004, then-Gov. Mitt Romney ordered town clerks to enforce the little-known law and deny licenses to out-of-state couples.

The repeal effort has the support of Gov. Deval Patrick, whose 18-year-old daughter announced last month she is a lesbian. The Massachusetts Senate voted Tuesday to repeal the law. The House is expected to vote this week. An analysis found repealing the law could draw thousands of couples to Massachusetts, boosting the economy by $111 million over three years.

Bites....

of food and fingers!

This is a quick, easy and YUMMY supper dish I made yesterday! It's simply a layer of frozen cheese ravioli and some frozen meatballs, in this case they are turkey balls! Then I chopped up a Vidalia onion and an orange pepper, then poured over the top a jar of Hannaford brand basil and garlic tomato sauce and sprinkled some salt, pepper and chopped parsley and mozzarella on top. I baked it at 400° for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and delish!

YUM!!! As you can see by the pic, it's over half gone!!

Saturday at work, I got bit by a rat. A pet rat that was a customer return because it was aggressive. I think the kids terrorized the poor thing!

I'd dealt with feeding and cleaning the rats habitat in the isolation room all week with no problems from the rat, until Saturday morning!

I reached in to get the food dish and BAM! it streaked over to my hand and muckled right onto my finger and wouldn't let go! Yeouch!! I reported it to my supervisor and ended up going to the ER. I got back to work about an hour and a half later... started completing the morning opening tasks, and I realized my finger was swelling, QUICKLY!! It was hurting quite a bit also! So back to the ER I went and was there until 3:30!! WOW! For a small community as this one is to have an ER that's THAT backed up on a Saturday, can we say: "More quick care medical facilities are needed!!??

AK!

NOT my idea of a FUN Saturday!

It's not infected, but the ER doc was mystified as to why it was swelling up so rapidly! He gave me a weeks worth of Amoxicillan and a few pain killers, gave me a sling to keep the hand elevated above my heart, and gave me a note for no work on Sunday and light duty the next couple of days.

So... the pain has gone away and most of the swelling too. This is a good thing.

New Studio space!!!

These are shots of my (EMPTY!!! ) new studio. This is looking east, towards the front of the house. This is the entrance door leading out to the hallway. I'll put a new-to-the-studio bookcase on that portion of the wall behind the door and next to the window. I've run out of places to store my book's and magazines thus, the need for more book case storage! Perhaps there needs to be some weeding of the mags??? Ak!!!

Empty room, yes... but smelling oh-so-clean of freshly shampooed carpet!

These sports hats of Nancy's won't be staying.

I'll probably set up my sewing machine and fabric stash in this area. (That's the door leading to the hallway.)

Yeah... that's Dilly's dog crate, not positive yet where her "room" will end up in the new upstairs layout. Probably in the dressing room??

This is looking west, towards the back of the house. In the first picture I was standing in this doorway, it leads into our new bedroom. I'll put a large shelf cabinet here with the VCR and television on it. It'll be on a swivel stand so we can watch TV from the bed if we so choose. This doorway will be blocked by this cabinet and the TV.

That concludes todays little tour of the new studio - as I set it up!

New wheels!!!

On Saturday after the yard sale was cleaned up "P" came up with her sister to pick up some stuff we'd been storing for her. Nancy was beat and stressed from the busy day she'd had and wanted to get out for a bit. She went over to Lowe's and found nothing she wanted, so she decided to take a trip around the car dealers lot.

She just purchased a truck a couple months ago and she spotted "her" salesman right away and he brought her to an '05 Dodge Stratus. She brought it home for the weekend.

TOTAL surprise to me!!

We/ I knew Jezzy Jeepster would NOT pass the state inspection at the end of this month. I was going to take a trip to the bank this week and see what I could do to find a new vehicle. You see, I was dreading this. My credit isn't good. Being on disability for the last 12 years really did a number on me! Let me tell you, it's nearly impossible to live on a disability check!

I've been on a mission to clear things up lately. Now that I'm working, I've been setting up payment arrangements with some of the creditors. Despite this, I doubted seriously that I'd get a loan on my own...

Like I said, Nancy totally surprised me with this turn of events. She took charge and made it all happen. She co-signed for me!! WOW! I was totally floored!

We did all the paperwork and such and signed on it Tuesday evening.

The weather has been so dreary this week, no pics of the car could be taken yet, so this is a shot of it from the dealers website.

It's a metallic-y gray with gray interior. VERY clean! it's a peach! Best car I have owned in quite some time, if ever! *G*

This little maneuver Nancy did was right up there with the surprise she pulled off last summer when she gave me my diamond engagement ring! *puuuurrrrrrrr!*
