Mini Vacation!

Love Birds

Monday is a holiday here in New England. My partner Nancy took Friday off and she is off on Monday too! So, we are in the midst of a mini vacation!

She got caught up on some yard work yesterday while the weather was EXCELLANT! Beautiful day!! Today is a “lazy bum day” and then tomorrow we are off to Portland with a group of friends for dinner and the Indigo Girls concert at Merrill Auditorium! Yippee!!!

Monday we go over to our friend’s who lets us winter store “the girls” (our motorcycles) in her large garage. We are bringing them home for the season!! YAY! We may even take a short ride after we get them home, depends on how cool it is.

All this rambling just to tell you I WON’T be having Open Studio Time on Monday. But, be certain to check out my little smiley face Yahoo messenger guy over there on the top right column, ya never know when I’ll be broadcasting from the studio. I’ll be working on my Old Lady in the Shoe sculpt and I’ll be stringing my black and white jester marionette this coming week!

Lot's done today!

I worked upstairs in the newly set up photo studio from 8:30AM to 11:45, then after lunch I was back up there at 1:30 and stayed until 3:00PM! In the last shot down below is a sample of the photo's I took today... I have over 150 still to edit and probably another 50 to 75 pictures to take. I plan on editing these over the next few weeks so that when I'm laid up from my knee surgery, I'll have new items all ready to upload to my ETSY shop. While I'm taking these photos - I'm going through old stock, reassessing and reevaluating my pieces, some are being unceremoniously tossed, while others are being looked at in a whole new light! It's been over two years since I've looked at most of this stuff! Wow! I'm so glad to be over the shoulder surgeries!! I feel alive and creative again! I missed it so much! Pretty much all I could do for two years was crochet! Now, I LIKE to crochet, but I also like to bead, and work with polymer clay, and precious metal clay, and wire wrap, sew a little and string beads and I even like to sculpt a bit... I'll tell ya, crocheting got old fast! I have lots to show for what I crocheted, but I have yet to take good pics of those items... all in due time!

That's the items waiting to be shot in the right pictures and yes, that's the laptop with my iTunes blaring!

During lunch I did laundry, worked on my wire and bead crochet pouch I started last night, and now, I've been photo editing since 5PM. Oh! I also had a tubby time in the late afternoon too! Yummy!

I can't believe that I can so easily walk from the basement, where the washer and dryer are - to the first floor kitchen (to check on the fish chowder in the crock pot) - then up again to the 3rd floor attic where I was shooting pictures - without even being winded!!! When we first moved in to this house I LITERALLY did not FIT down the cellar stairs! Wow! Loosing 270 lbs has sooooo changed my life!!

Whats on my work table

I've been feeling a little better each day. I had a bit of an infection in the incision that had to be dealt with, but it's fine now. I'm on antibiotics and still having to take Vicoden for pain. Tomorrow I have all the rest of the staples removed! YAY! (itchy!)

Yesterday I worked at my table for a couple hours. Made a skinner blend mica shift jelly roll. With that I made a 3 bead set and a peek-a-boo pendant on a velum square. They'll be holiday gifts... have some more in the pipeline to work on too!

This is what's on my "work table" today!

I'm not feeling up to my usual self today. *errghh*

Been lounging and finishing up some hand work that's been in my work tote for a while now.

TOP: finished up the lining and drawstring for this bag.
MiIDDLE: Finished up these two skull caps with polymer clay buttons
BOTTOM LEFT: finished crocheting this bag.. still needs to be lined
BOTTOM RIGHT: A polymer clay wine stopper

Thanks for peeking!

What's on the work table!

I thought I'd start something here on the blog now that I can actually spend some time in my studio working on stuff! It's been so long that I wasn't able to work due to healing up both my shoulders from torn rotator cuff surgery!

Every so often I'll take a pic of what is actually on my table or in my lap, in the case of beading or crocheting, and post about it. In other words things in progress...

I've been experimenting with a bit of sculpting lately. Odd thing for me to do! But, WHAM!! my muse hit me over the head with the sculpting tools and I'm sculpting!

So, there's a couple of little pooch faces and some shell dwellers up in the top of the picture. Then there's a tin in progress, and a pen, some empty shells and some clay that's being conditioned.
