Name Cane. FAIL!

My caning abilities have clearly suffered since my time in the studio has diminished!

I'll be so glad when we are completely done with the house and I can devote more time to being in the studio! I do however, have to get back up to speed with my caning, and I have to do it soon, as I have another commission to get started on!

This one involves a picture cane! Better come out nicer than this name cane!

*sigh*

To think, people actually used to buy my picture canes!

*hanging head in shame*

Spring Equinox Puppet – one on one swap

Technorati Tags: puppet,spring equinox,flowers,color,little girl

This is the fun little girl I made for the one on one swap I joined over at swap-bot.com. It was a spring equinox theme, so she has lots of cane slices on her torso and very colorful skirts! She’s also carrying some polymer clay flowers and a pair of heart shaped opera glasses!!

Ha! Ha! My muse! Such a goofball!!

Wordless Wednesday

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday. ~Author Unknown

Worried about the state of the economy??
Maybe not quite so much now that we have a brand new president??
How about that ever growing grocery bill??
Wouldn't it be nice to have a little stress reliever right there, handy-like in your pocket??

These beauties will do the trick! Polymer Clay Worry Stones from Constance Pelkey Designs!

Feeling a bit stressed and need a healthy release? Rub one of these soothing little stones and feel the tension melt away!

These little polymer clay worry stones have been impressed with inspirational words, such as

"Dream"

"Create"

"Wish"

to name just a few. They come in various colored mesh gift bags and are shaped into pleasing "stones" that comfortably fit in the palm of your hand.

No two are alike, therefore we cannot specifically guarantee which stone you will receive.

Thanks for your interest!!

Latest stuff

These are a few of the tiles I've been making for the counter tops in the downstairs bathroom. They've been stamped and carved, then colored with Pinata Inks, cured and lightly sanded. I plan on covering them with liquid clay and curing them again. I'll also be pouring a layer of acrylic resin over the tops before installing them on the counters. The whole bathroom project has been a long one. I'll be sure and post the completed pics of the bath.. whenever we get it complete! LOL!!

This is the signature cane I made last week. CPD - Constance Pelkey Designs. I made a LOT of it and some of it reduced wonderfully, other parts, not so much. (shrug) It's all very usable in one way or another, though! I plan on putting a small slice of it on the backs of my works.

This top picture is of all the reduced sizes and the bottom is of the unpacked version.

New Year, Old Health Issues and New Business Commitments

I'm not big on new years resolutions.

However,

This new year I am committing to make a strong "go" at my little business, Constance Pelkey Designs.

Over the last couple years I have had both my shoulders done. I had TWO torn rotator cuffs. My right arm needed my bicep reattached too! It was bad! It took many, many months of rehab to get them both back in shape... unfortunately that meant I could do very little in the way of creativity. I was however, able to crochet. Now, don't get me wrong, I like crocheting, but that being my only outlet was somewhat limiting!

I'm so glad that I can play with my polymer clay and precious metal clay, and bead, and sew, AND crochet again! YAY!

In the meantime.

I've had a "gut" issue for the last couple months that involved emergency surgery for a bowel blockage early in November, on voting day in fact, and the ensuing severe pain in a knot of scar tissue and nerves along my waist next to my belly button that's the ultimate result of this and a few other abdominal surgeries. Because of severe pain in this area I was hospitalized again for a couple days the week before Christmas. This issue isn't resolved yet. I have an appointment to see the original surgeon who cleared the blockage and I'm awaiting a second opinion appointment with another surgeon, hopefully that will happen next week.

I need to get THIS issue resolved - SOON - because I was scheduled for total knee replacement surgery on January 6th.

AK!!!!!!!

That's been postponed until the gut issue is resolved!

*shaking head and rolling eyes*

*sigh*

I've been out of work and in limbo, essentially since the beginning of November.

Best thoughts and wishes will be greatly appreciated during this whole process of resolving the gut issue - SOON - so I can go ahead and deal with the knee issue!

At any rate.

During the time, I continue to be laid up with all this health stuff, my "resolution" is to concentrate on my business. I have an ETSY store and I also recently opened an ARTFIRE storefront as well. I've joined a couple of "teams" on ETSY, I also joined Facebook and still belong to the Polymer Clay Central message boards. I've been taking good pictures of all my inventory (finally!). I plan on continuing to photo edit and will be listing new items on a weekly basis to both stores. I'll be trying some different marketing techniques, too. I'll also be creating new items and I hope to join my sister in law in attending one or two larger crafty type selling venues this summer and joining a couple Maine based craft and art associations.

Keep your eyes pealed here at this blog to be updated and PLEASE, pass on my URL http://ConstancePelkeyDesigns.blogspot.com to ANYONE who might be interested in my "stuff"!

Happy New Year to all and best of luck to me in sales this new year of 2009!!

The Purple Princess Speaks

Art for you and your home!

I make wearable art and more!.This includes bags, accessories, art beads, boxes, scarfs, functional and fun sculpture and just about anything else I take a fancy to!

From design to construction, I do my best work and hope that it shows in my items. I'm happy to answer any and all questions related to my work.

These items were created from premium, artist-grade polymer clay. I primarily use KATO brand clay. No paints, decals, stickers or drawing tools were used to make the designs–only the colored and translucent clays themselves.

Store your poly-clay art items in a cool, dry place. Avoid getting too much sun, aerosol sprays, perfumes, or chlorinated water onto them - as they could discolor your items.

I hope you have fun looking at my stuff and if you decide to purchase, thanks so much!
