Rest easy now, Henry - we shall meet again

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So, rumors of my demise have been much exaggerated...

I had big plans for work while laid up from my surgery. *sigh* What's that they say about the best laid plans??

Everything went fine with the exception of pain management. At the hospital and here at home. I have to say though, today I'm finally feeling somewhat human again. I know, I know, I'm NOT going to overdo. I promise to be good. I hope I can sit up in my studio for a while this weekend though. I have 12 bugs on my work table waiting patiently for their legs!!

Yes, if you were wondering if that big bluish, purply-ish, pinky blob over there on the left is my leg, you would be right. LOT'S of bruising!! Remember that animation I posted about them opening up the leg, moving muscle and tendon, cutting bone, hammering and gluing the new portion in??? I have felt the results of all it this week!!

I can already tell though, it was worth it!!! Nancy might disagree with me at this point, because she is the one who worries and has to deal with the stress of my pain, and she doesn't do that well, but she is such a trouper!! I love her so!

I'll get back to work in my studio again soon enough, for now it's naps with my lil' black doggie Nero and my old man kitty Henry, my cryo/cuf (ice) and HGTV in the background... oh, and the laptop on the pillow next to me! Techy geek that I am!

Oh! Speaking of tech!!! Great news! My new lappy is being made, just for me, as we speak!! It's a Pink Dell Inspiron 1525 with an expected delivery of March 11!!

Thanks Mom!!!

Scary pajamas - AGAIN!! :)

Remember last spring when I had a scary encounter with my pajama pants??

Well, I'm not sure what the fixation on my pajamas happens to be with the four legged members of this family, but....

Last night when I grabbed my long purple tee shirt nightie, which I'd simply balled up and threw on the bead earlier in the day, out popped a chewed up stuffed squeaky toy!!

YIKES!!!

It was originally a cat toy, but Nero stole it one day and promptly ripped the stuffing and squeaker out of it! I'm not sure if Twink or Henry took it back and buried it in my night shirt, or if Nero hid it there himself.

Animals are very weird sometimes and I wish I knew what they were thinking!!! LOL!

Thankfulness

I am thankful this year for many things, not the least of which are:

  • FINALLY having a part time job and an awesome boss who is willing to work with me on all the time off I've needed in this past year due to shoulder surgery, this latest emergency surgery as well as my upcoming knee replacement.
  • Having this wonderful ol' house to keep us warm and sheltered, despite the fact that it is an old house and needs lots of tender loving care; read: expensive at times! It has just about everything we need and it's full of good times, good memories, good food, and good folks! It also is the investment that is our future! (Southwest - here we come!)
  • Mom. Her health and attitude are better now that she is here with us. This is not to say that it isn't trying at times with her here, but my stress levels are much lower now that I don't have to worry about her being alone.
  • Our pets. Nero the dog, Henry and Twink the cats, Harriet and Hermione the hermit crabs and the fish. They all bring us joy and unconditional love.
  • My creative outlets. They calm and relax me.
And last but certainly not least...
  • My WONDERFUL partner, Nancy who has stood by me, being a rock, encouraging and supporting me during all these health issues. She is just simply the best thing that has EVER happened to me! I love her dearly, however I doubt she really has any idea how MUCH she truly means to me! Simple words cannot describe what she means to me. She is my everything!
Happy holiday to everyone!!

Giant Mouse in my pants! AK!

Dear Henry,

Thank you so much for capturing and "dealing with" that very large mouse that somehow found it's way INTO the house during the two days that the roof was open and exposed.

You are and have always been my champion hunter! You are very brave and resourceful, what with your front toes being declawed! Wow! That mouse was easily as big as a chipmunk!

However, in the future... please do something else with the spoils of your hunt. Leave it in the hallway, right smack in the middle of the floor, ANYWHERE else! But.... Please, in the future?? DO NOT leave it buried in my pajama bottoms that I have left in a ball on the floor on my side of the bed! Dressing myself for a lazy evening of watching TV with Daddi and having a mouse fall out of the PJ pant leg I am attempting to thrust my leg into is NOT my idea of fun! EW!

Sincerely,

Mom
